Holiday inspiration for all ages

School holidays don't have to mean soggy sandwiches on windswept British beaches. Instead, why not get a great deal on a half term break and turn your dream destinations into an affordable reality?

Our travel experts have curated a selection of must-visit places that promise excitement, sunshine, and lasting memories. It’s time to explore new cultures and break free from the predictable school holiday routine.

Antalya, Turkey

The Mediterranean climate, beaches, and theme parks of the Turkish Riviera, make Antalya a fantastic destination for families between Spring and Autumn. Kaputaj and Lara are the most popular beaches but Olympos is a hidden gem well worth seeking out.

Many hotels specialise in family holidays and offer larger rooms, kids’ and teens’ clubs, children’s pools and a programme of family friendly events. Away from your resort, you can indulge in some traditional Turkish cuisine at the cafés lining the Old Harbour. Stroll along the quaint cobbled streets of the Old Town where you’ll find Hadrian’s Gate, one of the city’s most iconic spots. Other local highlights for all the family include the mesmerising Düden Waterfalls, and the ancient ruins of Aspendos.

Gran Canaria, Canary Islands

Gran Canaria boasts over 60km of golden sandy beaches where kids can enjoy a range of water sports and activities. Further inland, visit the dunes of Maspalomas, a nature reserve where the wind sculpts the sand into a breath-taking scene.

There great family hotels in Las Palmas, and you’ll find some excellent tapas restaurants amongst the historic buildings. Older kids might enjoy spending time shopping in Calle Triana. For a memorable family day out, there are lots of theme parks and aqua parks. Meet a cowboy in Sioux City’s old Wild West, or visit the exotic creatures and botanical wonders at Palmitos Park. Whether you’re looking for action or adventure, or prefer to relax, this unique Spanish island offers something for all ages.

Tenerife, Canary Islands

With its subtropical climate and beaches, Tenerife is great for kids. The largest Canary Island offers a great range of activities, delicious seafood, and historic UNESCO World Heritage sites. It’s also home to the highly rated Siam Park with thrilling water rides, and Aqualand, which is great for younger children. The whole family will enjoy Loro Parque, a world-famous animal adventure park, and check out Jungle Park too where there’s a whole host of fascinating creatures. You also can take a boat trip to watch whales in their natural environment.

If you enjoy exploring the great outdoors, there are lots of places to hike where you’ll be rewarded with stunning views. Mount Teide is the highest peak in Spain and is Tenerife’s most popular natural attraction.

Madeira

With great weather almost all year round, beaches, and delicious food and drink, Madeira is ideal for a family break. Try an exhilarating downhill ride on a Monte sledge, or in a cable car over forests, streams and mountains. See whales and dolphins and there’s even a Whale Museum in Caniçal. Sail in a kayak through deserted bays and inlets, swim or snorkel. Or walk or cycle along the levadas dug into the countryside.

Family-friendly attractions include Aquaparque's slides, lazy rivers, and splash zones, and Monte Palace Tropical Garden where kids can marvel at the fish-filled ponds and pretty flowers. You’ll find lots of playgrounds, parks and gardens which are perfect for a picnic and that perfect family snap.

Krakow, Poland

Half term is a great opportunity to take everyone on a mini city break. And there’s so much to do in Krakow. Kids into aircraft will love the Polish Aviation Museum. Outdoor-types will be happy exploring Planty Park’s 52 acres of woodland, flowerbeds, and cafes. Glimpse into royal life at the Wawel Castle and marvel at the crown jewels.

A popular attraction is the Wieliczka Salt Mine where everything has been hand-carved from salt blocks. Kids will be fascinated by the Pharmacy Museum where medicine was a little more complicated than it is today - you won't find a dried crocodile in your local Boots! Visit the hi-tec Rynek Underground Museum in the tunnels below the Main Market Square. From shops to restaurants and even open-air events, this beautiful city has something for everyone.
