Find the latest environmental reports and resources from East Midlands Airport
In partnership with our Consultative Committee, we have developed a Quiet Flight performance report, which fulfils one of our Noise Action Plan commitments. The report shows the annual performance of our airline operators with regard to a variety of detailed Noise Metrics. The report also contains the methodology of the data behind the report.
East Midlands Airport has invested in a state-of-the-art Aircraft Noise and Operations Monitoring System – ANOMS. The ANOMS system allows us to assess noise from aircraft operating at the airport, linking data from our network of noise monitors with the tracks flown by aircraft.
Our network currently includes five fixed noise monitors at locations which have been selected to enable aircraft noise measurement, with a sixth monitor being installed imminently. Additional noise monitoring can be undertaken by deploying a mobile noise monitor in a specific location.
Community noise monitoring is undertaken during the peak operational summer months. This coincides with the period for which ‘Summer 92 Day’ noise contours are produced. As such, we aim for our mobile monitor to be deployed for three months between 16 June and 15 September, or a period close to these dates. This approach allows for monitoring to take into consideration any changes to the runway in use (which is driven by wind direction), will ensure sufficient data is collected for analysis and reporting and support the validation of noise contour modelling by the airport.
If you would be interested in having the mobile noise monitor in your local community, please contact your Parish Council to make a formal request.
You will find below the reports on previous mobile noise monitoring sessions.
